Last Watermelon of the Season Picnic Salad

Last Watermelon of the Season Picnic Salad

Here's a fun and fresh Watermelon Salad recipe, to make the most of the last watermelons of the summer season and to utilize the precision of your favorite Ginsu Katana knives for an effortless and delicious experience!

Ingredients:
- 1 small seedless watermelon (about 4-5 pounds)
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional garnish: Toasted pine nuts or pumpkin seeds

Instructions:

1. Prepare the watermelon:
- Using your Ginsu Katana cleaver knife, slice the watermelon in half. The knife’s razor-sharp blade will allow for smooth, clean cuts through the thick rind.
- Slice the halves into wedges, then remove the rind and cut the flesh into bite-sized cubes. Set aside in a large salad bowl.

2. Slice the cucumber:
- With your Ginsu Katana Santoku knife, thinly slice the cucumber into rounds or half-moons for a clean, even finish. Add to the watermelon.

3. Thinly slice the onion:
- Use the same Ginsu Katana Santoku knife to finely slice the red onion into delicate slivers. The sharp blade will ensure the onion is sliced paper-thin without crushing the layers. Add to the bowl.

4. Chop the herbs:
- Coarsely chop the mint and basil leaves with your Ginsu Katana Gyuto knife, releasing the fresh aromas of the herbs. Toss them into the salad.

5. Crumble the feta:
- Add crumbled feta cheese over the salad for a creamy, salty contrast to the sweet watermelon.

6. Dress the salad:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Drizzle this dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.

7. Garnish and serve:
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze for added depth (optional) and sprinkle with toasted pine nuts or pumpkin seeds if desired.
- Serve immediately for the freshest taste.

Enjoy this vibrant, refreshing salad with perfectly sliced ingredients, thanks to your Ginsu Katana knives!
